The South Pole is the toughest endurance challenge on the planet. Starting from the frozen coastline of Union Glacia, I will travel to the Hercules Inlet where I will continue on to the South Pole, negotiating multiple crevasses, crossing snow bridges, and rising to highs of over 3000m on the high polar plateau along the route. With katabatic winds up to 80mph, temperatures as low as -60C, and the threat of blinding snowstorms, this is without a doubt the ultimate extreme endurance race set in the stunning landscape of one of the coldest, driest, and highest deserts on the planet.
Challenge distance: 1130km as the crow flies.
Calendar of dates: Race 18th November 2012– mid January 2013 / Training; Uk/Norway throughout 2012.
I am attempting to raise £60,000 to cover the cost of a challenge like this , training, flights to Antarctica, specialist equipment, clothing, and safety teams,
